Wax
In Kaori candles we use a signature blend of soy wax and beeswax for several important reasons, combining the best properties of both waxes to create a superior candles:
Natural & Eco-Friendly: Both soy wax and beeswax are natural and renewable resources, making them eco-friendly choices compared to paraffin wax, which is petroleum-based. This blend supports sustainability and is free of harmful chemicals.
Clean Burn: Soy and beeswax burn more cleanly than paraffin wax, producing little to no soot, which helps maintain air quality and reduces the risk of staining surfaces.
Longer Burn Time: Both waxes have relatively slow burn rates, meaning candles made from a soy and beeswax blend tend to last longer. Beeswax, in particular, has a higher melting point, allowing the candle to burn at a slower pace.
Excellent Scent Throw: The combination of two waxes provides an excellent scent throw, meaning the fragrance is evenly distributed and long-lasting. Soy wax is great at holding and releasing scent steadily, while beeswax adds a natural honey-like aroma, enhancing the overall fragrance experience.
Better Texture & Appearance: The blend produces a smooth, creamy texture that looks aesthetically pleasing, and beeswax can help make the candle more durable and less prone to frosting or cracking.
Together, soy and beeswax create a candle that’s eco-friendly, clean-burning, long-lasting, and capable of delivering a rich scent experience.
Wicks
In Kaori candles we only use ECO wicks made from braided cotton and paper fibers that is specifically designed for clean, consistent burning in natural waxes. They offer superior performance with their clean, even burn, self-trimming design, and eco-friendly composition, enhancing the safety and longevity of candles.
Fragrance Oils
Fragrance Oils that we use for our candles are Phthalate Free, Paraben Free, SLS + SLES Free, Vegan and Cruelty Free (not tested on animals). Why is it so important?
Phthalate-Free: Phthalates are chemicals commonly used to extend the longevity of scents, but they can be harmful, potentially disrupting hormones and causing allergic reactions. Phthalate-free fragrance oils avoid these risks, making them safer for both personal use and home environments.
Paraben-Free: Parabens are preservatives that can mimic estrogen and have been linked to various health concerns. Paraben-free fragrances avoid these synthetic preservatives, reducing the risk of skin irritation and long-term health effects.
Vegan: Being free from animal-derived ingredients, vegan fragrance oils are also less likely to trigger allergic reactions from animal by-products.
Non-toxic: With the absence of harmful chemicals and synthetic additives, these oils are safer for individuals, pets, and the environment, reducing exposure to toxins and allergens
This way we provide a healthier, more ethical, and environmentally responsible choice, while maintaining high-quality scent experiences without the need for harmful chemicals or animal testing.
Candle Care
To ensure maximum durability of the candle, it is worth following a few simple rules. Here are the main candle care points to ensure optimal performance, safety, and longevity of your candle:
Trim the Wick. Even though all wicks in candles come ready for use, make sure that the wick is always the same length of 1/4 inch (6mm) before each burn. This prevents the flame from becoming too large, which can cause smoking, uneven burning, and excessive soot. Trimming also helps reduce mushrooming.
Burn Until Full Melt Pool. Let the candle burn long enough during each use so that the entire surface of the wax melts evenly across to the edges of the container (known as a full melt pool). This helps avoid tunneling, where the wax burns only in the center, leaving excess wax along the sides.
Avoid Burning for Too Long. Do not burn your candle for more than 3-4 hours at a time. Extended burning can cause the wick to "mushroom" and produce excess soot. Let the candle cool before relighting.
Keep the Candle in a Safe Area. Place the candle on a stable, heat-resistant surface away from drafts, flammable objects, pets, and children.
Extinguish Safely. Use a snuffer or dip the wick into the melted wax to extinguish the candle instead of blowing it out. This reduces smoke and prevents wax from splattering.
Store Properly. Store candles in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Exposure to heat or light can cause discoloration and degrade the fragrance and quality of the wax.
Stop Using When 1/2 inch of Wax Remains. Discontinue use when there’s about 1/2 inch of wax left at the bottom of the candle. Burning it further could overheat the container, leading to potential cracking or fire hazards.
Avoid Drafts. Keep the candle away from fans, open windows, or air vents, as drafts can cause the flame to flicker, leading to uneven burning or soot production.
By following these candle care tips, you can ensure a safer, cleaner burn while maximizing the life and enjoyment of your candle.
